Toilet Clogs
If your toilet clogs, first, remain calm and avoid flushing repeatedly to prevent flooding.
Next, use a plunger to dislodge the clog. Push the plunger firmly into place and pump the handle up and down rigorously to push the blockage through the pipe.
Sink / Shower Clogs
If your sink or shower drain isn't functioning properly, there may be hair or other debris clogging the pipe.
Most hardware stores sell small cleaning tools you can use to clean superficial clogs from the pipe. These are very inexpensive and surprisingly effective, so you may want to try using one of them.
You can also try pouring boiling water down the pipe to break apart soap scum or other masses in the plumbing system. Please exercise caution if you try drain cleaning chemicals, as these can damage the plumbing system if used incorrectly.
